One of the big reasons why the music industry has changed so much from the old school “record label as gatekeeper” approach to a more “niche community driven independent musician” approach, is that the amount of songwriters and musicians recording their music at home has increased dramatically over the last couple of decades.
This is mainly because the availability of home recording studio equipment is more prevalent and easily accessible as well as the low entry price in getting started.
Just think… No more barriers to getting your music out into the world anymore. No more hurdles to jump over and no more gatekeepers to appease and because of this, I’ve been building up my knowledge in audio production while creating my home recording studio called SongMachine at the same time.
As a songwriter I know how important it is to have free flowing access to some sort of recording equipment (whether it be a smartphone or through to a full blown professional recording setup) to ensure that no songwriting idea is lost no matter how big or small it is.
I’ve got to tell you, the initial thought of writing and creating music in my own home studio absolutely terrified me but, as I started to really get into it and learning from all of the mistakes I made along the way, those negative thoughts about my ability to operate a home studio slowly changed into positive ones.
Even though I am still climbing the very steep learning curve of operating a home recording studio, I realise that the more I create through SongMachine, a better audio producer I will become.
Corey Stewart Online is my attempt to learn as much as I can about home recording studio techniques for my own songwriting benefit in the best way I know how… Blogging about my journey and then, sharing it with everyone else.
I’m no home recording expert by any means but through documenting what I learn plus curating the very best home recording studio tips, trick and techniques I can find on the web, I can climb the steep home recording learning curve a little easier and provide value to you, the reader, at the same time.
It is my hope that this website will become an essential online repository of information for my benefit as well as anyone else who is interested in the creation and recording of their own music at home.
In saying that, Corey Stewart Online can only develop in the long term with direct input from YOU, so if in the future, there are any questions that you may have about home recording and SongMachine in general, just let me know and I will do my very best to answer them for you.
So, with that being said, let’s start this journey together… RIGHT NOW!
