Today is the last day of January which means that tomorrow kicks of one of my favourite times of the year. It’s FAWM time.
Now I can hear you thinking… “what the hell is FAWM?”
Well, FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month and it’s an online songwriting challenge that dares you to write 14 songs in 28 days.
It’s also an online songwriting community that is helpful, supportive, encouraging and very switched on when it comes to writing songs.
I love participating in FAWM because it enables me to put into practise all of the songwriting information, tips, tricks and hacks that I talk and write about.
Sometimes I make it and sometimes I don’t but there something to say about a deadline and a supportive group of people around you spurring you onward towards your goal.
There’s no prize for achieving the goal of 14 songs in 28 days except the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve won the battle against your inner critic.
The FAWM website describes the challenge as “… a group of creatives dedicated to making new music, sharpening songwriting skills, and growing in community.”
